Fibber's In Cedar Bluff? The Lighthouse Restaurant!!

Postby gridlox on Sat Jan 10, 2009 1:15 am

We rode over to Fibber's in Cedar Bluff for supper tonight and found that they were closed. :(
There was a sign on the door offering a 10% discount at "The Lighthouse Restaurant" if you mentioned that you saw the sign. (Which we forgot to do! :o ) There was also a typed letter tapped to the door thanking everyone for their business and that they were closing for the Thanksgiving holidays and would reopen Dec. 4th.

From the looks of things they never re-opened. :(

Anyone know why they closed?
Or if they are going to reopen?
I hope so. It was one of the few places still around to get some decent old fashion Southern coooking.

We ended up going to The Lighthouse and had a really great meal!

I highly recommend it if you are in the area.

We ordered a pound of boiled shrimp. I was all ready to have to peel some wimpy shrimp like most places serve. But, not here!! :D
They sat the bowl down and it was "large" shrimp already peeled and ready to munch! AWESOME!! :D
The fried shrimp was really good as well. We didn't have salads, but the folks sitting around us did and Man! they don't skimp on them either! The guy sitting next to us kept raveing about how good his Ribeye was.
I was in the mood for a Margarita. When it got to the table it was a beer MUG of Margarita. Not these small tumbler size like most places.
Took a bit to decide what to eat because they offer so much. Seafood, Steaks, Burgers, Sandwiches, ...
They rotate their desserts & vegetable choices. So you have to look at the board on the wall by the large fish tank to see what's available. (Fried Okra!! Two thumbs up!!)

You know, I didn't even look to see, but I "think" they had a deck looking out onto the water. If so, it might make for a good spot for a future meeting come spring time. Unless I just missed more seating areas, the inside doesn't look like it could hold more than about 30-35 folks at one time. :( Since that's about the most we'd have for a normal meeting, We might just have to take it over one evening.
