World's Slowest Cacher!!

Postby gridlox on Sun May 31, 2009 1:09 am

OK! It's Official!!
I've been inducted into the World's Slowest Cacher club!! (insert snail smilie here)

Began my caching career in Jan 2005 & just found my 200th cache last weekend while at GeoWoodstock VII.

I actually joined GC.com the year before after my bro-in-law "troubleX2" told me about it. Didn't own a GPS reciever, so it was kinda hard to get out and cache. One year later, I'd read and hung out on the forums as much as I could stand it. I talked my bro-in-law into taking me on a caching run around Rome. I was hooked!! I didn't even let him take his GPS back home for a few weeks after that!!

There is rarely a single day that goes by that the words Geocache or Cache doesn't roll off my lips at least once during the day!! Just wished my ability to get out and actually "do" what has become a big part of my life came easier.

At least my 200th was a special cache that I found it on. Even that was an accident because I didn't realize it until I got around to logging my caches "this" weekend!!

I found the "GC1RJ50 - The Treasure of GeoWoodstock Mountain" Puzzle Cache for #200!!

What!?! D-man 8) found a "PUZZLE" cache!!

I grant you this, it wasn't sheer brain power that figured it out!
It was another one of those, "Well Duh! moments when the answer to the puzzle hit me and allowed me to get the find!"

Happy Caching! Here's to more achieved milestones for everyone!!

Opossums aren't known for speed... just look at their road crossing success rate!

I beg to differ with you about being the slowest. You did great to reach your 200th find. But I think I deserve this title. :)

I went to GW7 with only 23 finds since last August. I cached all week in the surrounding area - Bell Buckle, Manchester, Shelbyville, Estill Springs, and Beech Grove. I am the pround cacher of 65 found. It is really slow when you are trying to cache alone. Let me say it can also be a dangerous hobby to navigate the roads and look at the GPSr at the same time. I locked my keys in my car one day and had a flat on another day. Luckily I had good Samaritans to help me out both times. I met some really nice locals who asked a lot of questions about geocaching.

So, Gridlox, what do you think? Am I the slowest?

Dunno? But I don't think we need to team up for a timed cache run any time soon!!

:o I'm afraid not - I can't help anyone with the speed issue. I need lots of help in that area. Anyway, I like my slower pace - I stop and smell the roses (or wildflowers or whatever flower I spot on the trails). Life is too short not to take advantage of the views and the simple things in life!

At least that is my philosophy. Slow and steady wins the race!
